Meet our summer workers - Oona Uusitalo
Every year, we employ around 400 summer workers in our production units. Our summer workers are essential for ensuring that we maintain secure and stable production during the summer months as well. Let's meet Oona Uusitalo who has been working as a Paper Cutter Operator at our Pietarsaari Mill in Finland.
What do you do at Billerud?
"I work at the paper cutter in so-called fieldwork. My tasks include assisting with the loading of the paper web at the cutter, monitoring the quality of the rolls, and directing the rolls to the correct locations."
Is this your first time working at Billerud, and what sparked your interest in applying for a summer job with us?
"This is my first summer job here. I applied because I have always been interested in the environment, and I was also interested in working at a plant like this. I wanted to see firsthand how such a plant operates. Billerud has similar values to mine, and I wanted to be part of doing something important for the environment."
What have you learned or discovered about Billerud since you started your summer job?
Oona tells us she has learned a lot about paper manufacturing and appreciates how Billerud’s values are reflected in daily work.
"I have learned a lot about paper manufacturing. It has been fantastic to see how the company's values are reflected in the way we work every day. It is great to see how employees are valued and cared for. Everyone here is friendly, people say hello and talk to each other even if they do not know each other. The work environment is really good."
Finally, what are you most looking forward to during your summer with us?
"I look forward to seeing and learning even more about this industry. I hope to gain many useful and interesting experiences."
