Meet our summer workers - Irma Sjöberg

Every year, we employ around 400 summer workers in our production units. Our summer workers are essential for ensuring that we maintain secure and stable production during the summer months as well. Let's meet Irma Sjöberg who has been working as a Marketing Communicator at Billerud Wood Supply in Gävle.

Tell us about yourself.

"I grew up on a small farm with family forestry outside Enköping. For the past five years, I have studied in Uppsala, both to become an agronomist and for a bachelor's degree in forestry. In my spare time, I like to volunteer, previously in sports and student life, and now in politics. I have finally graduated and am very excited to start working in the forestry industry and at Billerud."

What do you work with at Billerud?

"This summer, I am working as a marketing communicator in Gävle in the communications and sustainability department. In my project, I will develop a forest visit trail for Billerud's customers that showcases Swedish forestry. It is usually international customers who come to visit, and questions about forestry are common. The visit trail will demonstrate various forestry activities along with our Swedish forestry model, where active and sustainable forestry go hand in hand."

Is this your first time working a summer job at Billerud, and what sparked your interest in applying for a summer job with us?

This is my first time working a summer job at Billerud. This position stood out a lot compared to other forestry summer jobs - I immediately felt that I wanted to apply. Communication and sustainability combined with forestry is something I would like to work with in the future. This is a great opportunity to try it out and get to know Billerud.

Tell us something you have learned at Billerud since you started your summer job

"Something important to me is the culture and values at the workplace. It should feel good to go to work. Already on the first day, I felt incredibly welcomed. All colleagues were open and inclusive from the start, with many pleasant conversations and laughs. Feeling welcomed and included as a newcomer is highly appreciated. Caring for each other, which is one of Billerud's core values, is something I will especially take to heart during my summer here."

Finally, what are you most looking forward to during your summer with us?

Billerud is an employer I have been curious about for a long time, and it feels exciting to get to know the organization and all the new colleagues this summer. I look forward to being part of showcasing Swedish forestry to curious customers!
