The Xpression e-com paper has been tested for recyclability according to the PTS method and passed.
Where are your biofuels from?
97% of biofuels are used in Billerud’ production, and most of it is generated in our production as by-products. The main part is black liquor and bark.

Why do you exclude biogenic greenhouse gas emissions in the calculations?
Growing trees absorb carbon and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. According to the LCA, more GHG are absorbed than emitted during the product lifecycle. This significant biogenic function makes paper mailer bags a carbon sink. Our analysis shows that there are several other improvements in GHG emissions that justifies a switch from plastic to paper mailer bags.
Can you make recommendations on paper grammage for different bags sizes?
To make an informed recommendation there are a number of factors to take into account. For instance, the range, weight, density and shape of the products along with the supply chain all have an influence on the ideal grammage. In our experience, a stepped approach to reduce grammage in steps of 10g is a good approach. Start by making an overview of your product range and decide how to proceed from there.

How long will an entire E-Com Packaging Service process take?
This depends entirely on the complexity of your product portfolio and transport chain, as well the time needed until necessary samples and insights are available to us at the Packaging Development Center. Our packaging engineers and technicians are experienced in prototyping and testing. Let us know what you need help with, we do our very best to support you as swiftly as possible.
Can Billerud conduct testing compliant with ISTA or ASTM?
The Billerud E-com Packaging Service will give you a good indication in how your packaging will perform during a ISTA test. Additionally our test protocol will allow us to make packaging optimization recommendations. If a standard ISTA test is required we will collaborate with one of our certified partners labs. Together we define what is most suitable for your products and project.
How does the process work when traveling and visits are limited?
We have many years of experience of virtual collaborations. Digital tools facilitates time effective knowledge transfer and discussions. We are happy to invite you and your larger team to a virtual tour of our lab and offer paper related training to bring everyone on board your packaging project.
